Enchanting
There are numerous ways to receive enchanted items or enchantment kits. They can be obtained by looting, crafting, special methods, or recycling. Special methods can include enchantment kits or scrolls from custom loot such as Zombie Hordes, Trivia, Voting, and similar sources.
How to enchant
- Many enchantments only apply to certain item categories. Use the in-game list (and the reference below) as a guide; the furnace UI also shows what is valid for each kit.
- Open the enhancement flow from a small furnace, legacy furnace, large furnace, or electric furnace using the on-screen button while you have an enchantment kit.
- Applying a kit normally costs Reward Points (RP) as well as consuming the kit. The RP cost depends on which perk you are rolling.
- Successfully enhanced items get the Enchanted name prefix so they are easy to spot in inventory.
Looting
- Everyone has a small chance for enhanced gear when opening vanilla Rust loot (crates, barrels, hackable crates, heli/Bradley crates, etc.). Higher-tier containers trend toward better base odds; barrels and basic crates are on the low end.
- Drops still respect Rust’s normal loot tables — you will not get an enhanced item the container could not have spawned anyway.
- The skill Diamond in the Rough from /st greatly improves your odds of seeing enchanted loot.
- Higher server ranks can have extra loot-chance modifiers (stacking with skills).
- On skinnable items, enchanted loot often appears with a dedicated skin, and you may get chat or notify feedback when something procs.
Crafting
- Crafted items can also roll as enhanced: a chance on craft, a cooldown after a successful proc, and chat feedback when it happens.
- Many starter or primitive items are excluded from craft enhancement; the game only rolls on eligible recipes.
Recycling
- Recycling an enchanted item has a modest chance per enchantment on that item to return an enchantment kit (so multi-perk gear gets multiple independent rolls).
- The skill Refurbish from /st pushes that chance up; with enough investment you can reach a guaranteed kit return.
- Recycle-chance permissions on higher ranks further improve the odds.
- The kit you get matches the perk line you recycled, but the rolled strength is random again — that is how you move enchantments between items.
Additional info
- Custom content such as Zombie Hordes or Raid Bases can drop scrolls or kits.
- Random kits from voting, trivia, level milestones, the donation store, etc. are fully RNG for both perk type and roll strength.
- Targeted or high-tier rewards (e.g. quests) can grant more predictable kits.
- An item can occasionally gain more than one perk. Extra perk rolls after the first are rare. Duplicate copies of the same perk are allowed and each line counts toward your caps.
- To inspect what you are wearing and holding, use the bag icon (when visible) or /ench. The icon shows when you have enchanted gear equipped or an enchanted item active on your hotbar.
- The UI can summarize combined bonuses from all eligible worn and held items.
